A Welcome Message From John MarI ran for Alderman because I, like many of you, am concerned with the increased crime in our communities. As a former RCMP officer, fighting crime the right way has to be our number one issue.
As a father of two young children, I want to ensure that the world we live in today is preserved for their children and grandchildren. With gas prices at an all time high, food shortages and a real threat with global warming, I am doing my part as an Alderman to ensure our environment is carefully looked after.
I believe in sustainable development that mixes established communities with new, innovative designs. As we move to increase the density of the downtown area, we must be cautious to still provide means for pedestrian traffic and adequate green space.
Finally, I believe in helping our seniors. These brave men and women have steered our great country through world wars and recessions. It is time that we give something back to them.
I pledge to be an accessible, responsive and strong advocate for the people of Ward 8.
